Brawl in the Family takes this week's spot due to it's hilarious combination of Super Smash Bros. Brawl (obviously) and it's style of animation. I came across this little digital media gem through a friend who was looking around for more nintendo related webcomics after I featured "Awkward Zombie". So to find out more about this comic and why it caught my eye, click on the jump!

Okay, so I'm a little bit biased when it comes to this comic, because the main character is one of my favorite spherical characters, Kirby! The site gives a brief description of the characters involved, if you don't know them already from the game. Here are a few of my favorites.

"First you draw a circle, then you dot the eyes, add a great big smile, and presto — you’ve got the eight-inch, gluttonous star of the comic. Kirby has an open-mind; he’s willing to try anything once, especially with mayo. He’s also perpetually optimistic, considering even the cranky King Dedede a close friend. At times, Kirby’s loyalties may be brought into question, especially when he swallows his companions. But really, that just means he likes them. A lot."

"Ever the quiet, vigilant hero (unlike his many fairy partners he’s become associated with), Link is guilty of being at least six or seven different people. Either way, you can expect him to be silent (except the CD-i one), dignified (except the CD-i one), and energetic […]."

"The seldom-seen masked character is the only creature Kirby is actually afraid of. Considering Meta Knight is chock full of armor, wields a sword, and looks none too tasty, that’s not much of a surprise. He doesn’t mess around, and he doesn’t joke around. Although he feels that Kirby is a pest, Meta Knight doesn’t seem to have any sort of alliance with Dedede.
Some of his recent behavior may have been slightly surprising to those who know him. Perhaps he’s up to something after all?"
The author incorporates these characters along with the rest of the SSB Brawl cast to create hilarious Nintendo related comics on an almost daily basis. Matthew Taranto and Chris Seward are the names of the artistic and clever duo who bring this comic to life. Brawl began as a series of doodles that Taranto did in college, that eventually gathered a following after being posted on the interwebs as a comic. Thus Brawl was born, and it has been growing in popularity ever since.

Personally I enjoy this comic because of three reasons, one being it's focus on Kirby's trials and tribulations, two being that the artistic style of the comic changes up relatively frequently, and three, it updates often, so the reader is never left with comic withdrawal. If you want to check out the site for yourself, go ahead and visit www.brawlinthefamily.com to witness the hilarity.
