This past Monday was the Uncharted 2 Multiplayer event that allowed players to play each multiplayer mode in 5 vs 5 teams on a new map that was not previously available in the multiplayer beta. The action was shown up on the big theater screen for all the people in the theater in spectator mode.

The games were intense and one by one each team was taken out of the game until there were the last two winning teams left. The overall winning team won one of those Uncharted 2 Fortune Hunter editions (which cannot be bought in stores) of the game that contains thecontains the game, a replica of the Phurba Dagger artifact and stand, an art book and a collector's case autographed by Naughty Dog. One hundred players attended, yet only five people were crowned the winners. The Uncharted 2 event (that took place in four different major cities across the states) was held on Monday, October 5th for press and Playstation Blog users and Tuesday, October 6th for general admission, tickets were sold beforehand and were sold out before the day of the event.

My whole purpose of attending the Uncharted 2 event was to be able to compete in the competition and to try to win one of those coveted Fortune Editions. When I first read about the Fortune Edition I was impressed but didn’t feel the need to have one, until I played the game and realized just how important the Phurba Dagger is to the story. I was determined to walk out of there with one of those daggers to call my own.

I was placed in Team Drake and knew that if a team was to become the victors, it would be this particular team. We won the first round of Deathmatch by a hair and I was feeling confident, that is until the other teams started playing and I got to see just what we were up against. The next match was Elimination and my team was knocked out of the running.

My boyfriend’s team lost to my team the first round, but his raffle number was randomly called to be given a second chance at the winnings. His new team was Team Plaza and I knew that we needed real focus if there was a chance to win the competition. I become Team Plaza’s coach, I watched how the other teams played and I quickly began to memorize the new map and where each type of weapon was. Team Plaza played another round of Deathmatch and won, then we went back up and won Elimination.

The game got very serious very fast and with the volume of the people and the game in the theater it was hard to communicate, so it was up to me to yell back and forth to the team members the next move and where the other team was trying to sneak up on us. Then our team won Plunder and even though team moral was high, we knew the next team was very good and would probably win by a long shot.

Before the final match, we huddled together and talked strategy, who was going to go where and to remember to always stick together. The first 30 seconds of the match was an example of just how the rest of the match would go. The other team obviously had no communication and it was an annihilation of epic proportions.

Team Plaza took the win with 23 to 10!

Naughty Dog continued to surprise us and gave each person in attendance a copy of the game with a shirt and a cool Uncharted 2 baggy.

Thanks for all the guys on the team and for letting me coach you, thanks for Shoe for my new Fortune Edition, thanks to Sony for a great event, and thanks to Naughty Dog for a great game!!

I got the pleasure of attending the Uncharted 2 sneak peak event that took place over in Chicago. As soon as we arrived at the theater, I noticed Sony spared no expense decorating it like a jungle setting. It really set the mood and did alot to make me excited for what was to come.

After signing in, we hung around the lounge and got to play the single player campaign for a little while. Then we were taken into the big theater where Naughty Dog gave a short presentation.

The main event started playing, Uncharted 2 on the big screen. A few new levels were shown, and everything blew me away. I didn't think much could be done to improve upon the original Uncharted, but everything I saw proved me wrong. Everything from Drake's Fortune has been included and enhanced for the sequel. The levels are larger, more cinematic, and detailed. The characters all interact with each other in ways that feel so like life.

There are moments that make you forget you're playing a game. One of the highlights of the night was the chance to participate in the Uncharted 2 multiplayer tournament. It was an exhilarating experience, and while my team didn't take home the snazzy first price Fortune Hunter's edition, it was so much fun.

I used to think Uncharted was a strong enough single player campaign that it didn't need any multiplayer, but Uncharted 2's is completely solid. The maps and variety of modes will keep me playing for many hours after the games is released.

The variety of hidden weapons, shields, and specialty items really keep the multiplayer fresh and unique. At the end of the night, Sony really surprised us by saying everyone was going to take home a copy of the game in their gift bags!

The event was completely worth attending, and it really shows off just how powerful the Playstation 3 hardware is. Uncharted is such an amazing experience, I hope everyone gets the chance to purchase it next week went it hits stores.
