Awkward Zombie is this week's pick for your weekly dosage of webcomics, an awesome comic I found that plays around with some of my favorite Nintendo characters. At first click I assumed it would be a running storyline comic that centered around hilarious zombie antics. However I was surprised to personally find out that most of the comic storylines actually focused on Nintendo-game based hilarity. So if you want to see more reasons why this comic made this week's pick, then click on the jump!

I found this comic while browsing once again through VGcats "links" page for this weeks inspiration. The name "Awkward Zombie" immediately caught my eye, and I envisioned a post apocalyptic version of The Office that was just as if not more hilarious. I was pleasantly surprised to find out the true focus of this wonderful webcomic.
The author, Katherine Tiedrich, apparently plays a lot of Super Smash Bros. and Zelda, because these are both frequent settings in a lot of her comics, which I dont mind at all. Although I might be a little biased in the Zelda department, all of the other plots in the comics are really funny too!
After scouring the internets for information about the author, all I was able to come up with was the autobiography from the "about" section of the webcomic, and naturally, it explains everything.
"Katharine Chandler Tiedrich XIV was born to wealthy Russian aristocrats in 1823, where she was trained in swordsmanship, honor, and how to play the accordion. Not long after, however, her family's prized diamond mine collapsed and plunged into bankruptcy. Stricken by poverty and in fear of being sold to the circus, Katie ran away from home at age nine and joined a ragtag crew of bloodthirsty pirates.
During the next twenty years, Katie circumnavigated the Earth and discovered Atlantis, which she sunk out of contempt. She also discovered Australia, but left almost immediately because the whole continent sucked and boomerangs are no good for plunder. While on her travels, she founded the city of Rome and carved Switzerland out of a meteorite, depositing it between Italy and France, just to keep an eye on them..."
The biography goes on to explain the rest of Katharine's adventurous life, and ends with a small excerpt about how she "returned to her home in the center of the Earth, where she has lived to this day. She now draws crappy comics by day and fights the Justice League by night."

The comic is updated every Monday, for the most part, and it's a really good read if you're looking for a videogame related giggle or just to waste time reading webcomics in your cube. My favorite comics are the ones about Zelda obviously, but reading about the author's adventures IRL are pretty hilarious too. So if you want to check out the comic in all it's hilarity, you can go to www.awkwardzombie.com. Enjoy!
