This past weekend, Steve Hertz's SC3 was in full swing. The Southern California Classic Collectors takes place in Steve's backyard in Claremont, CA twice a year to celebrate the life of gaming. With 30-40 retro arcade cabinets, along with SNES, ColecoVision, Atari's and so much more, the event provides an amazing night!

This was my third time making it out to SC3. Like every other time, SC3 did not disappoint! After bee lining to the beer to the garage where there was a maze of cabinets, I found my Dragon's Lair 2 and Space Ace. I don't know why, but those are always my fav's coming in to the event. I tried out some Marble Madness, Star Wars, Q-Bert and it was my first time playing Major Havok. Other great games like TRON, Zzyzzyxx and the awesome Warlords were also available to play. Another great thing about the party is that not all the arcade games are always available. Some get rotated out each six months, so you never know what goodies you'll get to play! SC3 is also run on donations that provides food for the night, a simple amount for something so rare.

Seeing old friends like world record holder Paul Dean, Coin-Op TV's Rob Welkner, the Radnerds, BlackNerd Comedy, A FanGirl's Guide, GirlGamer, theStream.tv and the crew from AngryBananas, made the night go by too fast! You would think four hours would be plenty of time, but you only wish you had more! I think the most memorable quote of the night came from Andre aka BlackNerd when he said, "I can play Super Mario 3 anytime at home, but is still more fun in a public place #sc3" because it's SOOO true! I think at one event I spent an hour on Super Mario World...which I already own at my apartment mind you...

Other highlights include the Rockband set up with over 850 tracks to choose from, as well as The Beatles. A projection screen sits near the food and drink area that plays the best 80's flicks, old cartoons and even old school commercials. This time, the event had its largest turn-out with over 150 people attending.

I have to send a HUGE thank you to Steve, his family and the SC3 crew for providing one of the most friendly, safe and entertaining events the Los Angeles area has to offer. It's a pleasure to attend and I'm already counting down to April!
