Today Majesco announced the upcoming release of a collection of old school games for the Wii as downloadable content.  This collection includes favorites such as Caveman Ninja, HeavyBarrel, and one of my all time favorites, Burger Time.  So if you want to know more about this amazing compilation, and a list of the games then click on the jump!

Majesco is known for being the company behind such old school hit games like bubble bobble and burgertime.  Now it plans on cornering the vintage videogame market with it's release of the Data East Arcade Classics collection for the Wii.  Some of the titles it available with the download are

  • BurgerTime- A highly popular arcade game of the 80's, not unlike most of the other titles.  This game centers around you playing as Peter Pepper, trying to run away Mr Hot Dog, Mr. Pickle, and Mr Egg while avoiding the burger and condiment shaped obstacles in your way.   One of my personal favorites.
  • Peter Pepper's Ice Cream Factory- Sequel to Burgertime, this time around you push Ice Cream into their appropriate cones while running a patisserie instead of a burger shop.

  • Bad Dudes vs. Dragon Ninja- Play as the Bad Dudes in puruit of Dragon Ninja after he has kidnapped "President Ronnie", and yes, the presidents name was based off of our former president, Ronald Reagan.
  • Burnin' Rubber-A racing game where you must rescue your girlfriend from her kipnappers, the Black Army Corps, you can use your vehicle to jump over and bump enemy vehicles out of your way.
  • Heavy Barrel-Terrorists have taken over a nuclear missile site and it is up to you to stop them from destroying the world.  You can build the "Heavy Barrel" weapon by finding all six of it's pieces and using them until it exhausts after 30 seconds.  The Heavy Barrel kills any and all enemies within it's range, except for the final boss, making it a very useful weapon.

  • Caveman Ninja (Joe & Mac)- Play as a couple of cave men trying to rescue a group of cave women from a neighboring tribe.  Side scrolling action adventure in a prehistoric world.
  • Magical Drop III-Very similar puzzle game to Bubble Bobble, and Bust A Move, basically shoot bubbles to be adjacent to bubbles of the same color to destroy them.
  • Side Pocket-A single player billiards game, where the objective is to shoot all the balls into their pockets in numerical order.  A nine ball rule set is also available for two player.

The set includes 15 games in total.  All of the games in the collection are capable of 1-2 players, and use the classic controller, gamestop controller and nunchuck/wiimote controllers.  The price tag on this little bundle is going to be $19.99.

It's just a shame we won't get Robocop or Captain America and the Avengers. Those were two of Data East's better games.

Where's Karate Champ!? the greatest one on one fighting game ever. Forget Street Fighter, Fatal Fury,Art of Fighting, etc.... This is the original. Hell it was even featured in Bloodsport, the greatest Western produced martial arts movie ever.
