This week's Ask The GameGirls question comes from UnknownGamer. She writes:

Love the site!. But my question is: if the Zombie Apocolypse were to happen, what 7 must have items would you make sure to have with you? (Also saying that you have a plentiful supply of food and medical supplies.)

Thanks,

UnknownGamer

I've actually given this a lot of thought, as all people should. In the inevitable event that a zombie apocalypse takes place certain items will be needed. I think a cop-out answer would be fully stalked, ginormous yacht. Preferably a solar powered one. That way I could just chill in the ocean, living off the sea. In the event the zombies did learn to swim I could just speed away. If there were zombie dolphins I'd be effed tho.

If I couldn't have a yacht, I'd go with the basics. My 7 items would be a shotgun and 6 costco status boxes of shotgun ammo.

That is an awesome question and I've had this conversation numerous times before, so I'm glad you asked it. I'm going to have to go with:

1. Lots of weapons. Various kinds of course, but swords and knives would be very beneficial considering they don't run out of bullets, and not everyone is a sharp shooter like they are in the movies. Head shots are actually pretty challenging in real life, let alone if you were panicking.

2. Lots of leather. I know that sounds kinky, but I'd head for a biker store first. I'd grab leather pants, jackets, gloves and even a helmet since you can't bite through it.  Grabbing anything with spikes would also be essential like wrist bands and collars for the neck.

3. In addition to leather clothing, comfortable shoes and changes of socks. Most of your traveling could be potentially on foot. Changing socks over multiple hours can save your feet a lot of grief. Just doing a three day convention makes my feet feel icky, so I can only imagine.

4. Motorcycles are important since cars will most likely be blocking roads and you can maneuver in and out easier.

5. Energy supplements. Chances are you are going to be traveling a lot. You are going to have to be alert and focused, and probably won't get much sleep the first few weeks out.

That's all I can really think of. I mean, I would want to bring little things, or if I found safe place to shack up for numerous weeks at a time, I'm sure I would want books as some form of entertainment. However, they're not essential to living, so i left them out.

Hmm, zombie apocalypse eh? Well, in that case I would definitely need to have my DS, a shotgun, a flamethrower, arsenic just in case any of my fellow survivors became infected, a hatchet, some rope, and a teleportation device.  All of those have pretty obvious reasons for being a necessity in that situation, so I think I'd be pretty safe with them.  Great question UnknownGamer, thanks for asking!

Oooh fun question.
1. A book. Even Zombie Apocalypses can get boring.
2. a FN P90, for serious business
3. A Desert Eagle .50, for back up
4. Extra bullets.
5. A Halligan bar. Go on, google it.
6. A hand crank flashlight.
7. A swisschamp XLT. You can google that one too.
Preparedness is paramount.

Hmm...good question UnknownGamer. You helped out a lot since I've got food and medical covered. But if I had to choose, and I could only have 7 choices. I would have to say:

1. Fully automatic shotgun with unlimited ammo
2. Unlimited granades
3. Fortified building (preferably a location with a big building and lots of land)
4. Change of clothes
5. Truck with snow plow front, in case I need to go outside of my fortified building. :)
6. Gaming Set that includes deck of cards, dice, paper, and pen. That way I have some gaming supplies even if there is no electricity for video games.
7. I prefer to not be alone. So I would also have to have my buddies Trigga, TH4TGUY, and all the GameGirls. We may annoy each other eventually, but it's better than being alone with no one to talk to.

What are some of your game suggestions?

wow jess is the weapon expert out of all the girls. i think during the zombie apocalypse it would be easier just to become a zombie and infect others.

klasco

1. HKG3A4 (A weapon like this can do full auto and do semi. With a scope you can take things out at about 500yards since it fires the 7.62x51mm round which is also powerful enough to stop just about anything. it also is reliable) [Alternative AK-47 though loss you 500yard kill range and drop to around 300yards but you get even more reliability more likely you'll firing less than that range anyway]

2. Springfield Operator 1911 (.45acp and fairly common round as well) [Alternate Glock in .45acp or .40s&w glock is more reliable and have larger mag capacity but bulky and not as nice to shoot]

3. Full Size Ka-Bar Knife (7" blade should come in handy)

4. Backpack for storage of ammo, food, water etc (with an external frame)

5. Armour (home made, something to stop them being able to infect you)

6. Longsword (your vs zombies so in this case you might as well have a sword)

7. Medical kit (you may break nail during this apocalypse or something or rather)

(one item i wanted to add was the Leatherman Charge TTi more durable and tougher than those alternatives from victorinox plus the blades are on the outside for faster access)

@Jess
You find getting .50AE ammo hard and maybe the P90 5.7x28mm i don't know about what your local gun stores are like but those are rarer rounds i'd imagine.

Problem you may have with having a shotgun might be when you have to reload the thing and carrying the ammo on you is a bitch.

Just keep in mind that you could always wear them Shark suit that diver use to prevent shark's RAZOR teeth biting though your skin so let alone zombie's teeth so wear them from head to toe. As for guns? too much noise unless you wanna sit there all day blasting horde that running to you within 5 miles radius where zombies can hear you so Ill would use any melee weapons such as pitch fork, swords, axes or anything silent but deadly...just to keep them coming back from being dead...again? that way you'll handle a few instead of X number of zombies.

klasco

...or go get together a bunch of Spartans find an alley way and make phalanx

Gamer1787

hahaha @klasco but hey...how about top 7 kinds of zombie? I mean there are Rabies zombie from Quarantine, 28 days later then you have Virus zombies from Resident Evil, then you have black magic zombie, the whole "there no more room in hell" kind of zombie...curse zombie like the mummy and the list goes on. One more thing if you do have very well fortified building then there no problem to also have generators for electricity so video games wont be missed out :) and to recharge Ipod of course.

Finally someone who gets it. Half the zombie games/movies would be made a whole lot easier if the characters had a good Katana or something.

Guns are fun, but eventually you'll run out of ammo.
