A great man once said, "the hammer of justice is unisex"...That great man was none other than Batman. Whether you're a man, woman, alien, beast... the Bat won't hesitate in serving you a face full of Batarang.
Deep down everyone wishes they were that badass. The world's greatest detective is one heck of a title and I would love to have the honor of being cool enough. Don't deny it as you try to stuff that yellow utility belt back into your undie drawer. Lets face it... the thought of having a cave, gadgets, Bat-vehicles, and of course that darn utility belt, can make any nerd giddy. Given the chance, I would love to be Batman for a night. Holy analog sticks, Batman! Arkham Asylum does just that!

Instead of whipping up a wordy review for this game, I wanted to try my hand at a video review... Several weeks later it is complete. The biggest complaint I seemed to have was graphically. Now I've got quite the bone to pick because I ended up playing the 360 version a bit as well. The second it start I noticed a huge difference graphically. This is something I would've easily concluded had I noticed that this game was built on the Unreal engine. You can only imagine that I wasn't particularly amused to have paid 64 dollars for a version that was half-assed onto the PS3. Okay, its not that bad but there just shouldn't be a difference because this could've looked as good, if not better on the PS3, had the time been taken. But I get it.
Anyway, petty details aside, Arkham Asylum is easily one of the most entertaining stealth-action games I've ever played. Most of how I feel about this game is covered in the video review, but I really want to stress the replay value of this title. Having my second go round, there are plenty of fine detail that can be appreciated instead of rushing to figure out what is going on. Not to mention the 3 difficulty settings. DLC has already been released and there is more to come. I may have dissed the challenge rooms but I didn't see an importance to get to them until finishing the game. The challenge rooms are great fun and can even give you badass rankings and may even help you get a few tricky achievements you're missing.
I could really rave about this game and Batman until the end of humanity(2012) but I suggest you check out my video for the gist of what makes this game good. Also, go easy on me since it was my first attempt at a review.
Well I started off trying to collect everything and play through the story mode. I got frustrated when I had to go completely out of my way though so I finished off the story and went back. I would say depending on difficulty anywhere from 9-12 hours. I played through it Fri, Sat, Sun and still left the house.
A great review, for a great game! I finished the story a couple of weeks ago, and it also exceeded my expectations. In fact, the only disagreement I had with your review was with respect to the combat. I thought it seemed just a little too simplistic and button-mashy, which made the later battles seem slightly repetitive. However, this may have partly been a result of me rushing to see more of the great story!
