Tom Riley, the Vice President of Music Affairs for Guitar Hero, has expressed his enthusiasm in working with Daft Punk for DJ Hero, saying “This is the first time in a video game that fans will have this kind of direct interaction with Daft Punk while also experiencing never-before-released mixes that feature some of their most popular tracks. It’s amazing working with Daft Punk as they are the quintessential electronic music act known around the world for their unique style and music.
DJ Hero is a revolutionary new rhythm game that utilizes a turntable peripheral. This controller can be connected to the guitar hero controller for Guitar Hero enabled tracks that the player can even use to mix with. The controller comes with a single vinyl turntable that enables the player to using scratching, crossfading, and sampling as he pleases.
Ever since seeing DJ Hero for the first time at E3 2009, I was skeptic about whether or not I would buy into another rhythm game, but after seeing that there were legitimate electronic music DJ’s on the set list, I decided to give it a chance. Now, after hearing that Daft Punk has signed on to partner with Activision to bring an even better music experience to the player, I am definitely convinced that this is one of the games I am looking forward to this upcoming fall. DJ Hero will be released for PS3, PS2, and Xbox 360 on October 27, 2009.
Personally I have been a fan of Daft Punk since my early years of highschool, I’ve always loved electronic music and they are definitely one of my favorite DJ’s. I have never seen them in concert, but if DJ Hero is the closest thing I can get, you can bet I’ll be picking it up this fall.
