This week's Ask The GameGirls question comes from s0medantastic. He writes:
Hey girls, love the site. My question to you is where do you get your screen names from? Are they real life nicknames, or just something that you picked?
Thanks,
s0medantastic :)

Hey s0medantastic, My screenname is my real name. :) The spelling is definitely not traditional but it's how my name has been spelled for as long as I can remember. I love it and I always think it's funny when people ask me how to pronounce it since I think it is the most phonetically correct way of saying my name.

Well I go by Nikole mostly, and that's the name my parents gave me. Sometimes I go by NikoleZ and that's only if the name 'Nikole' is already taken. Not gonna tell you my screen name ;) and my gamertag is GojiraSmash. I really like Godzilla and he really likes to smash things.

Thanks man, we like writing! I think my screen name is pretty easy to figure out. I love the character "The Baroness" from G.I.Joe. I choose it as my gamertag because she's a beautiful, badass, Russian mercenary. I mean who doesn't want to get their ass handed to them by that?

Well, my screen name is my real name, Janessa, but my gamertag, Jsaw27, has a different story entirely. It's kind of weird but it was thought up a long time ago when my friends decided to change my name to chainsaw because if you take my first name and break it into two words its "Jane Saw", and I guess it rhymes? Ha ha, so ever since I've just been referred to in that circle of friends as Jsaw, and it just stuck. Oh and my birthday is on the 27 of December so that's where that comes from.

Hey, that's a pretty good question. Actually, my nickname 'Rini' started when I began playing Parapara about 3 years ago. For those of you unaware, it's kind of like DDR, but you typically use your arms rather than feet and there are sensors above your head. There are choreographed dances for each song, and yes, I looked totally lame doing it, but I loved it. I was actually on a team for a short while when I lived in Dallas. Anyway, people go by surnames, and I found that Rini means 'little bunny', which I felt fit pretty well, so that's how it went down. My story is boring I guess, but there you have it!

Well, Chaunteuse actually means "female singer" in French. When I was in High School, my life was music and choir, and I couldn't find a cool AOL screen name. Chaunteuse was something I was sure no one would have, and it's what I was so I used it! However, I was horrible student because Chaunteuse is spelled wrong and is correctly spelled Chanteuse. Yep. My bad.
JesV was something I adopted when I started my Twitter account because it's short and more recognizable...and easier to say and spell. Now I actually prefer it over Chaunteuse:)

Sweet question! I've actually gotten this query several times, but this is the first time I've comprised an answer. People call me Nixie in "real life", but mostly on the interwebs. It came from a couple origins. One is a glass tube which holds a wire-mesh anode and numerous cathodes and acts as an electronic device that most commonly displays numerals. The less nerdy and more simplified origin of Nixie is it's also a spin-off of my actual name, which will remain a mystery... for now.

Well on GameGirl I just go by my name, Heather. Now I typically go by gogoroflcopter everywhere else. It is a nickname from World of Warcraft that just kind of stuck. In WoW one of my main characters professions is Engineering so I always flew around on a helicopter mount, which was always referred to as my roflcopter. Since then I've just gone by that.

Hey s0medantastic, my gamertag is Ladyluck NX. The NX stands for Nemesis which is the clan I am in and Ladyluck is a nickname I got in high school. I was a basketball player. During one of the games, I was fouled but still made the shot. (It was one of those falling and throw the ball up situations.) Well one of my teammates called me Ladyluck, and it just stuck.
When it came time to choose an online persona, it was an easy choice. I write, design, and game as Ladyluck. Plus come on who doesn't want Ladyluck on their side. :)
What are some of your game suggestions?
