Every now and again we geeks hear about the strange and outlandish things people do for video games. The most recent “WTF” is one particular football loving thief who knocked off a Gamestop in Jacksonville, Florida this Monday. Did he simply force the clerk to empty the cash register like any self-respecting criminal would do? No. However, he did demand that he get a copy of the newest Madden NFL game. Oh, the logic in these young Padawans.

You've got to hand it to the kid, he did pick a popular game. Madden 10 hit the top of the sales charts with 1.25 million copies sold in the first two days. But despite this smart choice, it doesn't make the robber any more intelligent.
The police report documented, “the suspect went in just before closing time and acted like he wanted to buy an Xbox system, but instead of pulling out his wallet, he pulled out a gun.” The cops went on to say that he forced store workers to "specifically place Madden and Xbox 360 games in his bag."

This gun-totting gamer even scored himself a story on the local news with bonus commentary from aspiring youngsters, which you can check out here.
I guess the saddest thing about this whole story is that the crook got away with a giant obvious-looking sack containing almost $2,000 worth of games and consoles. Apparently the cops weren't very smart either as they haven't caught this guy.
