What do you get when you mix 2k games' smash hit Bioshock with renowned comic artist Jhonen Vasquez of the Invander Zim fame? You'd probably get one of the most awesome pieces of art in existence, that's what. Today on the official Bioshock blog, The Cult of Rapture, 2K annouced their plans for an ongoing artist series. Featuring artists from all over the world, the series will display artwork from those personally invited to be a part of the endeavor. Check out more after the Jump!
Everyone who has gotten the chance to play Bioshock knows what a cinematic experience it is. A rich world with absolutely gorgeous artwork through and through. It only makes perfect sense that 2K games would cook up the idea for an artist series featuring the upcoming sequel, Bioshock 2. 2K approached several exceptional artist and invited them to produce illustrations that best represented the series to them. To be released over the course of a few months, the first artist reveal to have a part in the series was none other that Jhonen Vasquez.

Most might remember him as the creator of Johnny the Homicidal Maniac and Invader Zim. An extraordinary artist, with a truly unique style that can't be replicated anywhere; Jhonen is hands down one of my favorite artists. He captured perfectly the creepy yet endearing nature of the Little Sister/Big Sister relationship in only a way he could. Prints of the artwork will go on sale next weekend at Comic-Con and will be autographed by Jhonen himself. I wish I was attending the event even more now that I know this, as I would die to have one of these prints!
This series has me so excited, as unique artwork and Bioshock are a dream come true for me. I can't wait to see who the next artist is and what awesome piece they make.
