Columbia studios has recently picked up Uncharted as it's next videogame to big screen project. Uncharted was one of the best titles for the ps3 thus far, and it's sequel is highly anticipated. Question is, will the videogame success be able to translate to the silver screen? more details after the jump!

Uncharted has just joined the lineup of games that are being transformed into live action movies. Columbia studios managed to nab Avi Arad, Ari Arad, Charles Roven, and Alex Gartner as producers for the film. Avi and Ari Arad have both worked on films such as Iron Man, the Spiderman movies, and are also currently involved with the film adaptation of Lost Planet.

As if that isn't enough name dropping, Charles Roven has also worked on the batman films, while Alex Gartner is working on another game to movie project, God of War. Kyle Ward is reputed to be writing the script for the film, which should be beneficial to the project considering he has also worked on the scripts for the Kane and Lynch films and the Hitman 2 movie. None of the main characters have been cast yet, but I'm putting my vote in for Nathan Fillion as Drake, mooostly because I'm in love with him, but also because I think he can look the part!

So needless to say the team behind Uncharted the movie sounds well qualified to be handling the videogame to big screen project, but at the same time I can't help but feel that games to movies is just becoming a trend in hollywood, and not a very successful one at that. There are only a handful (if that) of movies that i can say adapted the videogame well to the silver screen, and were successful with mainstream audiences. I am pretty skeptic when I hear any news regarding game to movie adaptations but since the crew behind Uncharted sounds soo successful, and I happen to love the game, I just might give this one a chance.
