
A long time coming, LucasArts finally announces their effort to revive old classics and beloved franchises on Steam. Responding to fan outcry, classic games will be available for the first time via digital download. They will begins releases starting Wednesday, July 8 on Steam Valve Corporation's delivery and management platform for the PC.
For the first time in many years, action adventure fans of old will be able to relive their favorite classic games. Not only is this good news for old fans, but this could expose an entire new generation of gamers to these games. Gamers that would have never had a chance to play these wonderful and clever LucasArts franchises before. Scheduled for release starting July 8th, 2009:

These games have long since disappeared from store shelves, so up until now one had to deal with ebay scalpers and SCUMMVM. Hopefully if reception is favorable, LucasArts will plan on releasing more of these games via Steam in the near future. There's even talk of possible handheld support. I would die for a copy of Grim Fandango or Day of the Tentacle on my PSP!
It's extremely exciting to see LucasArts reviving an era of gaming that has all been lost in this current generation. I hope audiences these days embrace this style of quirky adventure that just doesn't seem to exist anymore.
