Rumors:

- A Dutch site is spawning rumors that a new Michael Jackson game is in the works. The site claims that MMJ Productions, Jackson's production company, is making a game based on the star. There has been no denials or confirmation of this rumor, but the game would supposedly be used to help spark Michael's comeback that includes tour dates in the UK.

-There's a good chance the beta for Final Fantasy XIV will be released in September. A few job listing are being posted for QA testers to start as soon as September. The game is set to hit shelves in 2010.

-Can't get enough Mass Effect? BioWare should be announcing details on the new DLC for the game by the end of the week. No word on how soon the content will be available to download.

The Buzz:
Gamestop analysts are trying to calm the minds of retailers of who think that digital distributing might be giving them a run for their money. According to Arvind Bhatia, retailers can relax. Well at least for the next five years they can. He went on to say that Gamestop has been conducting studies to see where the market is going.

Apparently they have until 2014 when about 25% of consumers will have easy access to downloading their media. By then the price of hard-drives are expected to drop.

The main issue is if people are ready to let go over their tangible game discs in favor of a download to their hard-drive. If given the choice I'd still chose to own an actual copy of the game versus having a copy already on my Xbox. Personally, a $60 game is too expensive to only have on my hard-drive.

As gamers how important is your collection of games? Would you want a completely digital library of games?

Announcements:

-Last night EA released there newest contribution to the Apple's App store: Mass Effect Galaxy. Mass Effect Galaxy is available for the iPhone and iTouch for $5. The game will act as somewhat of a Mass Effect 1.5, taking place after Mass Effect but before Mass Effect 2. The two main characters of ME: Galaxy will be seen in Mass Effect 2, due early 2010.

-In an effort to make even more peripherals for you the Xbox 360, Microsoft has announced they are releasing a new wireless microphone. The microphone will be compatible with all "your favorite Xbox 360 music games" including Lips, Rock Band, Guitar Hero, and more. It will retail for $50 this fall.

-Namco Bandai has a new arcade stick to use with Tekken 6. The wireless controller will retail with a special edition artbook and a copy of the game for wither the PS3 or Xbox 360. This bundle will set you back a cool $150.

Mass Effect DLC this week? Awesome! I've been playing that game for the fourth time now, trying to get the last few achievements, so the timing couldn't be better.
