We have all had our share of fitness videogames, from Wii Fit to My Yoga Trainer. Ubisoft has recently announced their own version of a fitness game, Your Shape for the Wii. Using a revolutionary motion sensing camera, the game creates a workout plan made just for you, so click on the jump to find out more!

Personally, I am not too big of a fan of fitness games, apparently i have a short attention span when it comes to wiggling around to get sweaty for a videogame. I even tried my hand at Wii Fit, and got bored/lazy very quickly. However Ubisoft's new title, Your Shape, looks a little more promising mainly due to the shiny new motion sensing camera that comes with it.

Using "Body Tracking Technology" the camera scans your body and then projects it onto the screen so that you have a representation of "Your Shape" that is as accurate as possible. Then after entering your muscle and weight goals, the game formulates a workout routine made just for you. A virtual coach is also provided who gives both verbal and visual feedback on your progress and movements, at all times, in order to maximize the results with the workout. The game boasts having more exercises than any other fitness game out there, promising variety in the workouts. This is greatly appreciated since i got bored with wii fit really fast when i only stuck to the exercises I liked, IE hula hooping and step class. This new camera is a key component of the game, because it enables the player to participate in the game without using peripherals such as Wii Fit Boards and controllers. Fitness game peripherals and I just dont get along, my Wii Fit board lost it's little discs under it, and My Yoga Trainer used a DS, which is not helpful at all in Downward Facing Dog pose.
Motion sensing camera technology was by no means in shortage at E3, with Sony announcing their own version of the camera as well. However Your Shape seemed to be one of the more promising titles that used this new technology, mainly because it was used in a videogame genre that was practically made for it. The game brings new meaning to the concept of interactive videogames, because the "body tracking technology" fits perfectly in the fitness game genre.
Hopefully Your Shape will be the solution to all of my fitness game woes, and it will be able to keep me away from crash diets and working out IRL. Ubisoft plans on releasing the game in the upcoming holiday season, so it looks like I'll be postponing my weight loss goals until then.
