This week's Ask the GameGirls comes from ZBZSororityGamer. She writes:

Hey Ladies. Love the site. My question is what other geeky interests do you have besides gaming?

Thanks,

ZBZSororityGamer

Other geeky interests of mine are definitely my obsession with Star Wars, my extreme habit of collecting action figures and gaming related toys and lastly my love for board games or "table-top games". Nikole and Heather are probably the only other 2 girls I have ever met who can quote the movie and who know it scene for scene as much as I do. So it's cool to share that passion with them. I also collect tons and tons of video game/comic book/horror movie related action figures/toys/and any other type of collectible. It's an obsession, I admit that. My apartment is busting at the seams with Star Wars, Gears of War, Pac Man, and tons of other toys. I also play a lot of board games, no not like Monopoly, more like Arkham Horror, Shadows over Camelot, Munchkin, Zombie Town, and Citadels. These games are very much like video games, just without the TV or console. Some of them our co-op where you are working as a team to beat the game and some are player vs player. These board games also take hours upon hours to play, our (we have a little "nerd game" club with friends) longest marathon was a 6-hour long session of Arkham Horror. They are not for everyone, I admit that, but if do enjoy it then it is really is a lot of fun!

Do I have other geeky interests besides gaming? Oh Boy, what geeky interest DON'T I have? I used to play Viola, but grew out of it into Art. I love to paint, draw, animate and create. Reading is an absolute passion of mine from novels to manga. I read Comics and I love watching anime. I'm a cinema nerd and I love watching old and independent films, I'm like an encyclopedia of trivia! I was made in the 80's, so old nostalgic cartoons give me warm fuzzy feelings. I have another hobbie I don't like to mention too much, it involves sewing.

Did I forget anything? Hahah maybe rock collecting? Otherwise I'm 100% grade A nerd.

Hmm this is a pretty open-ended question because it depends on what you might consider geeky haha! Let's see:
-I play DnD weekly
-I'm a major Star Wars fanatic.
-I don't know if wanting to be a ninja is geeky but there's that.
-I watch some anime, read a few mangas.
-Is Japanese considered geeky these days?
-I don't really wear cat ears.. sorry.
-I have an affinity for weapons, corsets, and boots.
-I hang out on YouTube watching people try to remake things like the Mario theme song on bottles.
-I can has cheezburger... need I say more?
-Oh yea, and I read like it is going out of style.
Am I a geek? You be the judge.

I guess it all depends on what you consider geeky. I love to read. I love technology, and I'm definitely a tech geek. Internet, computers, graphic design. Cards and board games. Star Wars and Star Trek. (Although I am not as big of a fan as I used to be.) I was in band and chorus. I play the clarinet (I also taught myself to play the piano and trumpet.)

I also collect ALOT of gaming things. I have faceplates, special editions, gear (whether hats, shirts, belt buckles, etc.), art books, you name it. But I would have to say my biggest geekiness is that I love to learn new things. Which is probably why I love technology so much. It is constantly changing so you have to learn new things to keep updated with the times. :)

What are some of your game suggestions?

im a comic book and manga freak. i got about 15 long boxes full of comics and a giant book case filled with volumes upon volumes of manga. anime is cool but its doesnt compare to the manga of the same name, imo.
my job puts in the geek category of its own. programming is how i make a living.
toys. dont even get me started on toys. i have more toys than a 2 year old. i have tons of original star wars toys from when i was a kid. if i see a cool toy ill most likely buy it.
i frequently hold RISK night at my place. i gather a bunch of my friends and the game of world domination is played by a bunch of people who barely run their own lives.

I love RISK. Only problem is getting people to play until the game is actually over. :(
