Lately I have been hearing a lot about how I'm wasting my time as a gamer. That I should be doing more with my life than spending so much time on writing gaming blogs, or playing video games. Not only does it bother me that they cannot see my passion for gaming and writing, but that they tell me this when they are spending the same amount of time on things that I find ridiculous.

I mean think about it. How can you sit there and tell me I'm wasting my time when you spend hours on a celebrity gossip site, or voting for the next reality TV show. I'm not saying those things are wrong. I'm just saying "Just because I do not understand why you do it, doesn't mean it's a waste of time."

People do things because it makes them happy, and if it's not hurting anyone. Why knock it? Be happy for them, because they found something that makes them happy.

Just because you don't understand something, doesn't mean it's a waste of time. So please remember: Thou Shall Not be a Hypocrite, and let people be happy with what makes them happy. You don't  have to understand it.

People will always knock stuff they do not understand that is what makes skeptics who they are.

Plus that is how i feel about people who are gay. They are not hurting anyone and just want to be happy so leave them alone. It's no one's business but yours what you do with your time. you know?

Plus you are a brilliant write and a awesome gamer :-)
Don't listen to skeptics and people who knock you or what you enjoy.

Just remember you are the awesome and amazing LADYLUCK :-D

Waste of Time is relative to what you think not wasting your time is.

(Warning, klasco's opinions are well...)
Games are a waste of time in my opinion if it's a soul obsession. ie. if it's all you use your time for.
However that's unlikely as most i imagine do other things then just play games.

i think everybody should have a better aim/ goal in life that is to not just use their own time for themselves but put in some time for others as well even if they may be strangers and in return you get noth'n (doesn't have to be big).

however video gaming culture is not as bad as hollywood.
To think their are heaps people (just look at hollywood culture) that read about some over paid motherfucker, good for nothing ***** about their daily life, diet etc etc compressively while people in your own country starve is stunning however the news about people starving is "soooo old".

So what is wasting ones time?, i think it's not black and white (surprise!) seem like it's another gray zone.

i know what you mean my best friend always trys to put me down for playing games and wanting to develop them its so anoying and my parents used to always complain about it untill the end of exams where they saw i passed every class so now they acept it but its anoying when people tell you what you should and shouldnt do with youre life

I get that too. I am majoring in game design in school and I have two jobs in the gaming industry. Not to mention I spend a good majority of my free time reading, writing, and/or playing games.

Does this stand to say that I am any less successful in life then the next Joe? No, I have friends that I hang out with on a regular basis, a boyfriend, and I even have time to do normal girl things like paint my nails and go shopping.

So the way I see it is that I am luckier then the rest because I get the opportunity to live the life that I want to live and not feel sorry about it.

amen. my whole family hasn't understood this facet of me for years and been telling me to get into better things...like..clothes shopping :/

Well put, Ladyluck!

I don't tell people how I think they waste their time cheerleading or obsessing over the TV. But, I get where they are coming from, actually.

Video games aren't very...productive. What do they really do for us, other than give us better hand-eye? But you do have the freedom to do what you want.

Next time, ask them why they spend all their time on their favorite things. Because they like it? Can't that be a good enough reason for you?
