There has been an overwhelming amount of rumors surrounding the new PSP model and what would be included or excluded this time around. 1UP.com has "confirmed" many of these rumors, but be warned; 1UP.com states these facts are being confirmed by their "source", until an official statement is released from Sony these are still to be taken as just a rumor.

According to 1UP's "source" the new PSP is to be called the PSP Go! and will be released this October or November in America. It's also said that the new PSP will be released in two different SKUS, with either eight or 16 GB of built-in flash memory and there will be over 100 classic and new PSP titles available for download the day of launch. As far as hardware, 1UP is stating that their source has confirmed "a d-pad, analog nub, and face buttons as part of a sliding unit sticking out below the screen."

All this sounds really interesting and quite promising, but for now, it is all still speculation and rumor. It is said that Sony will announce this among other things about the new PSP at this year's E3 in June.

I hope that the release will be on October, so that someone can give it to me as a birthday present *cough* *cough* ¨October 28¨ *cough*
In that time i hope that they improve most of it and that they add some cool features, as much as i like sony i didnt liked the first psp that much. but i love some of the games for it :)

If they would add a second analog stick they could port ps1 and ps2 games (I'm looking at ff7 just for sales alone) and it would make the psp far more popular... or sony could just keep ruining backwards compatibility and losing money. it's their company...

I agree. If they do get rid of their UMD slot and basically screw over every loyal PSP fan, i think they will get a lot of backlash. The retailers will not be happy either because they will have no games to sell for the PSP since it's all digital downloads. People will not have to visit the store which wil hurt the economy even more.
Sony is always screwing their fans over. They are hypocrites they bashed Microsoft for not doing the whole hardware based BC (backwards compatibility) and say it's a core feature for the fans. Then go and copy them and ever remove it all together for the 40GB PS3 and now on the PSP.

I do not like all digital stuff i like having actual media to save and store. I recently found some Genesis games in my carhole (haha simpsons joke) and found the case with game of the original Joe Montana Football and Michael Jackson Moonwalker. But that is just me.

Or, the games could still be bought at the stores through vouchers like patapon 2. The DSi doesn't have a gameboy advance port, right? Plus, this is a rumor. Wait for the full details before pointing the finger. No company is innocent or more guilty than the other. You should hear the shiz Arron Greenberg says to the competition.

i don't care about the GBA port. i haven't played a GBA game in a while and if i wanted to i still have my DS lite or GBA SP. The DSi is really cool i think. I only got a PSP because i wanted to play a few games and rarely touch it but i play my DS almost everyday and have more games i want to check out on the DS.

Plus why would you buy a voucher if you can just download it from your PSP? Not all that efficient and plus it's still not a physical tangible object you can hold in your hand and add to a collection.

But that is just me.
