Hey GameGirls,

With the new Star Trek movie out, I thought the question needed to be ask; Star Trek or Star Wars? Who is your favorite character and why?

I don't think it's fair to compare the two at all. Apples and Oranges. They are both set in space, sure, but that's where the immediate similarities stop. I happen to love both franchises. Star Wars seems to be the "cooler" answer while Star Trek is the "nerdier". One is a ground breaking television series from the 60's that spawned movies while the other is a set of movies that spawned a television series. So in short, neither is better. As geeks we are really lucky to have both, and to never have to chose a side. My favorite Star Trek character is easily Mr. Spock and Star Wars character is Jar Jar Binks and Max Reboo.

Star Wars, easily! I was never a big Star Trek fan at all, I watched and enjoyed Next Generation, but it can not be compared to my love for Star Wars. It's hard for me to pick my favorite character, they all bring something different to the Star Wars movies and without each and every one of them the movies would be a completely different experience. I love Obi Wan for how cool he is, he's just a wise, kick ass guy. I love R2-D2 because he is definitely the cutest character and makes me giggle with all of his beeps. I love Han because he is the bad boy, he is the guy that all the girls love. I love Yoda because he is, well, he is Yoda. I love Darth Vader because he is the ultimate badass, the best movie villain that ever was. I also love Luke and Chewie and Leia for other reasons as well. So, long answer short, I love all the characters and it's very hard for me to pick just one.

Haha, good question, Ace. I'm going to go with Star Wars, because I never really watched much Star Trek. Chewbacca and (young) Anakin are my favorites. Call me lame for this, but Episode One was my favorite Star Wars movie. It was pretty awesome :] I also think that since I was introduced to Star Wars before Star Trek, I ended up liking it quite a bit more.

Nice question Ace007! I have fond memories watching the original Star Trek reruns on TV with my dad as a kid. However, I will always be more of a Star Wars fan in my heart. Those movies had a huge impact on me when I was just a small child, and again when I saw the new trilogy in theaters. I believe Star Wars influenced my love of sci-fi greatly. I fell in love with the lore and the mysticism of the Jedi. On my summer breaks I used to read the novels and loved getting wrapped up in the universe. My favorite character has changed greatly over the years. I really love Mara Jade, Han Solo, and Boba Fett. I think my absolute favorite will always remain Obi-wan. A stoic, powerful jedi who in the end becomes one with the force, HOT!

That's a good question Ace007. But a hard one too. I've grown up with both franchises. I've seen all movies of both Star Wars and Star Trek. But if I had to choose I would say Star Wars. I even had every BK toy that came out when Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith was released.  My favorite character is a tie between Padme and Leia. Because both are kick a** females that work hard, can kick butt when needed, and are respected for what they do.

What are some of your game suggestions?

That's a tough call... I'd go more with Star Wars, but with the Star Trek movie looming closer, my respect for it has grown considerably...
But Star Wars...heh, I remember watching the very original Star Wars trilogy on VHS...and it was the original original, not the special edition with the new fancy effects :) It much later that I saw the original Star Trek movies for the first time, so Star Wars came first

The Fetts and General Grievous I think are the biggest badasses to hit Star Wars though...

i feel the same way Nikole feels. i saw Star Wars first but then Star Trek started to grow on me as i got older and i started to dig into the TV archives. When it comes to Star Wars im disappointed with episodes 1-3 but i cant say i hated them.

Great question and awesome answers.

I think Nikole's answer is the best and like how describes the differences :-)

I am not a trekkie but i am excited about the new movie, it looks really good.

klasco

though i like both.

(no point reading under this line just blah blah blah)

i think star trek presents a horrible picture of future humanity when compared to other sci-fi predications. Seriously if i were in control of a human faction in the future i'd aim for the most bad ass war hammer 40K armored killer spetnaz space marines possible then explore that final frontier you never know when you need the Military. (Yes i do often waste my time thinking on the future and how it should be etc etc)

Take Mass Effect for example which i think would be true of humanity. Before humans in mass effect even knew of other intelligent life they had already a vast military force for seemingly against nothing.

Now to star wars, now star wars has some issues with me but nothing like i have an issue with is the laser tech. A blaster pistol in that universe travels WAY to slow and not only that but would it not be easier to kill the jedi republic place with a nuke? then again wouldn't using a shotgun be easier or a high powered assault rifle such as a FN FAL before you even heard the bullet you'd be DEAD then again could somebody snipe Darth Vader 1.5kms away all this isn't apparently possible or done in a universe were there is hyper space travel.

They say the winner write the history so in star wars you see no mention on the amount killed in the death star explosion clone, alien and human alike just like in enter the matrix neo and the pvc wearing women trinity towards the end go crazy killing pretty much all the police oh yes i'm sorrry it's for the greater good yes a terrorist thinks the same thing...for the greater good sometimes you think is it really worth it. Couldn't rebels assassinated? etc anyway i'm out characters (max 2000!?)

yes i'm picky but thats what i like about sci-fi the predications or the tech in them.

ACE007

Why don't you tell us how you really feel, Klasco.... haha just kidding!

Thanks Gamegirls for your thoughts!! I've always been a Star Wars fan but the recent years of watching some of the Star Trek movies have intrigued me into the series. But what got me into Star Wars initially was the music which was a long, long time ago...

Overall sales, DSi is beating psp and ps3, but ovearall console sales ps3 is on top. I swear, sonyboy is an idiot. Anyway, starwars all the way. FUN IDEA!!!!!: When we're bored, my friends and I take out a fog machine and have lightsaber duels! Just be sure you're not by breakables!

not quite, sorry to say you are wrong, the Wii has over 8M and the PS3 has barely over 3M with the 360 just over 1M. So no the PS3 is not on top anywhere. The DS overall sales (including all 3 iterations) has over 26M while the PSP (including all their minor iterations) have just over 12M.
