Recently Marvel officially announced a new release date lineup for the upcoming movies The Avengers, Iron Man 2, Thor, and The First Avenger: Captain America.  Personally I'm super stoked, because I've always been a bit of a Marvel fangirl, so click on the jump to find out more!

Iron Man 2: May 7, 2010

Directed by Jon Favreau, Iron Man 2 will feature some very familiar Marvel characters.  Just recently it was officially announced that Scarlett Johansen and Mickey Rourke have signed on as cast members.  Speculations have been made that Johansen will play the Russian assassin Black Widow, and that Rourke will play Iron Man's nemesis, Whiplash.  I adore Scarlett Johansen, and I really think that she would be able to pull of Black Widow beautifully.  Of course they'll bring back everyone from the first movie, including Robert Downey Jr, as Tony Stark, Gwyneth Paltrow as Pepper Potts, and Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury.  I'm really anxious to see what they plan on doing with this sequel, considering the first movie was such a success.

The Avengers: May 4, 2012

Not much is known about this one, because it is in the very early stages of production, but it is definitely a movie that I am looking forward to!  The Avengers includes Iron Man, Captain America, Nick Fury, and many other Marvel superheroes from previous movies, now it's just a question of seeing how successful their movies will be on their own before how they will all work together as a mega cast to recreate this superhero team.

Thor: May 7, 2011

The director for this movie is set to be Kenneth Branagh who acted in the recent movie Valkyrie.  This movie is also in the dark, so nothing is known about who will be cast as Thor, although I have heard rumors of Alexander Skarsgard playing the Norse god, and Josh Hartnett as Loki.

The First Avenger: Captain America July 22, 2011

Probably one of the most talked about of all of the upcoming Marvel movies, Captain America's release date has also been pushed back a bit.  Speculations have been made that Marvel plans on releasing it so close to The Avengers so that audiences will be able to connect their storylines easier.  Many rumors have been floating around as to who will be cast as Steve Rogers AKA Captain America.  I've really heard them all range from Leonardo DiCaprio to Will Smith.  Personally I think they should try and nab Matthew McConaughey for the role, I think he could pull of the ruggedness of Steve Rogers easily.

All in all, I must say that the one movie that I am TRULY stoked about has GOT to be The Avengers movie, I'm really anxious to see how they plan on pulling off a really good crossover movie.  Then if this one works out, then maybe they can make a Marvel zombies movie too!

I've caught every Marvel movie they've come out with since Spider-Man. with the exception of Hulk, I've liked every one. Granted, Spider-Man 3 and Punisher: WarZone were kinda disappointing, they weren't that bad. But anyhow, I am stoked to see what they do with Iron-Man and it will be nice to have a good Captain America movie. Let's see what they got.
