We're not really breaking free. In fact, we're doing the exact opposite. Many of you have probably seen or read 'Death Note', a popular anime and manga series about a young man, Light, who discovers a notebook that puts other people's lives in his hands. With what he believes is just, he tries to create a perfect world, killing off all evil-doers. Well, there happens to be an American version coming soon. Unfortunately, you'll have to see who is supposedly playing Light after the jump...

You may have already guessed it. That's right, folks. Zac Efron is intended to be Light Yagami. Sure, he has some striking similarities. But considering I've seen the Japanese live action and wasn't even impressed with that, I have my doubts. There's actually a petition pleading that Efron not be cast in the film. Personally, I think he'd do better than any other actor, but that isn't going to keep this movie from being disappointing in my opinion.

I fell in love with the anime, so I don't know that anything else can replace it. The intelligence that went behind the storyline and the way that it's played out are irreplacable. Let's just hope that this movie is somehow justified.

There you go, Sonyboy. It's linked in the article now. I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks this is an abomination.

BALLS BALLS BALLS

the japanese movie was bad enough. the manga self destructed when a certain important character died.

again:

Hahaha, Ninja, I want pictures.

Holiday Brick- Though I've never really read the manga, I feel the same way. It took a slight turn for the worse when said character died. HOWEVER, it wasn't a total loss. The second half was good, but I think the disappointing part was how it seemed less structured and ended so abruptly.
But yes. BALLS.

Scarecrow_Zero

Zack Effron is a good actor, he is very talented and... *Headshot* *kills the Scarecrow_zero imposter and trhows the body in a lake*, O.K. now that i killed that imposter here is my real opinion from the real Scarecrow_zero:

Zack Efron < Gum stuck under my shoe

"So in conclusion, I, Jack Thompson, believe that Scarecrow_Zero shot and killed himself because of the violent video games he played. He even commented on video game websites full of women, stating he would, indeed kill himself. Here, we see him commenting on a post one 'Rini' wrote. She may be what drove him to kill himself, encouraging his suicidal threats. Clearly these games and the people who play them are unsafe. I rest my case."

How many signatures do we need before a new actor is considered?

I'm not positive. I know there are over 6,500 currently. The person in charge of the petition can be emailed. I'm sure he'd know.
