With so many controversies when it comes to violence and gaming. It is expected that new games will have a little bit of debate when launching. However, one game has crossed the line (at least in my opinion). A Japanese game has caused an outcry amongst people and websites alike.

The game is for the PC an titled RapeLay. Just as the title implies the game involves raping women, but it goes further than that. It also forces them to have abortions. It is a so-called "rape simulator".  The game was sold on the Amazon.com website with a graphic description of gameplay. However, it has since been pulled from the site. Although the game is still available, Amazon will no longer be a place to purchase. The user has also been taken from the list of people to be able to sell on the site.

I'm sorry but this is going too far. One this holds two issues that should never be allowed in video games. And will only cause drama, debate, and most likely more regulations against video games. It is people like the creators of this game that have brought on some of the stipulations we have already.

I know that this is an Adult Only game, but come on people. This game is wrong in so many ways, and I cannot believe this company even had the chance to create and market the game. Not only is the content disturbing, discusting, and down right wrong. But think about it. If people are stupid enough to shoot their parents over a video game, or kill a cab driver and steal a car, then why on earth would you think that this is a type of game that should be marketed.

Don't get me wrong, I'm all for video games, and the right to play them. But this game has crossed the line, and a game such as this will NEVER get my support.

ShortHairedOffender

It is meant for people to play out there fetishes. (Some have that fetish.) It is for people who have the restraint not to do it. Better to have them do it in a game then in real life.

hmmm i agree that this game is pretty far out there, but shorthairedoffender makes a good point. Better for them to rape pixels instead of ppl. Or better yet seek proffesional help maybe?

Oh god, this is the same company that made Battle Raper, isn't it? >.>

While the content certainly isn't suitable for an American audience (or any audience, arguably), Japanese society views rape a bit differently than we do. For those who aren't more familiar with Japanese erotica *coughcough*, I can tell you that 99% of it is based around forceful sex; the setup is generally "this guy starts having sex with this girl, and though she resists at first, she ends up liking it". It's a lot different than what we're used to seeing here in the US, where two people are just doing it for the lulz. Because sexual content in Japan is more focused on male domination (as are most parts of Japanese relationships, it seems), it's much more likely to see a product of this kind pop up over there than it is over here.

Apparently the game was for sale on Overstock.com as well, but got taken down there as well. You can still get it on some other websites, and can probably buy it at an anime convention or something if you look hard enough, so I guess it's not that hard to simulate rape these days. For those that are into that, anyhow. o_o

I'm sorry, but to me, even in games, there are some lines that should not be crossed...

That line is graphically destroying human life - not blowing it to bits in the middle of a gunfight, but slowly and methodically taking time destroying it in brutish detail (Manhunt 2 being another example).

I agree that rape is one of mankind's well-known, and well-documented, sexual acts and fetishes. There are even those who enjoy SIMULATED rape between two or more consenting adults. However, just as in real life, there are some things better left in the deep, dark shadows of the human conscious, and graphically methodical dismemberment, rape, and abortion are way beyond the limits of anything that can be even considered a game.

I've been privy to a number of Japanese rape-themed pornographic movies and pictures, and even I cannot stand the thought of this piece of software (I REFUSE to call this a "game" as it degrades games). If it was just a rape sim, I might say less, but with the abortion part, I heartily applaud the people of Amazon.com for a sensible decision.

I do understand ShortHairedOffender's point. I do agree it is better to do in a simulation than in real life. Maybe I'm weird, or maybe it's because I'm female. But to me rape and abortion are two things that should never be put into video games.

TheBaroness

Funny you should mention this, I just heard about (and actually saw played) this game, Ladyluck. It contains both rape and abortion. Illusion has always been a pretty terrible company that makes games that appeal to the lonely sick Japanese male. Look at Battle Raper.

I'm torn when I think about this issue. Because on the one hand it's a stupid quasi-game, rape simulation that shouldn't have been made in the first place. But I also believe in free speech and ability to make whatever one wants as long as it doesn't harm someone else. I don't see this game as harming anyone, it just fulfills someone's sick fantasies. So do I think this game is disgusting? Yeah I've seen it, it's horrible. Would I stop it from being sold or produced? I'm not so sure.

You aren't crazy, it makes sense. :-P

But to each their own? I guess if there's someone out there who wants to buy this kinda game that badly, more power to them. I can't imagine being part of this game's development team though. o_0

they could of at least made it so the girl could rape the guy and give him a versectermy (i can't spell it) anywho i do think this game should be banned. Imagine if you were a rape victim and you heard/saw etc about this!

Game: [www.answers.com]
An activity providing entertainment or amusement; a pastime.
Rape:
The crime of forcing another person to submit to sex acts, especially sexual intercourse

So just a Rape Game.
