Capcom announced today that PS3 owners will be required to download 5 gig install to play Resident Evil 5. Xbox 360 owners, need not worry. I know 5 gigs isn't really that big of a deal - but really, what's up with that? No news on why the PS3 game requires the large install and the Xbox 360 version does not. Just another annoying report of PS3 owners being required to update before playing a brand new game.

Personally, when I buy a game, I want any update needed to be included in the disk. What kind of update could it be that requires me to install something the day of release that couldn't have been fixed before hand?

Were any of you readers with both systems going to buy it on PS3 but this has changed your mind?

Are you serious?! When I got DMC4 there was a 20 minute installation, no download. That was just to cut down on the load times. Hopefully this will just be an install and not a 5 gig download. I'm on DSL so that could take a while :/

This is one thing that bugs me about new console games. When I get a console, I want to be able to pop in the disc and play. No updates. It should be ready to go out of the box.

That is so ridiculous! This means it would take like almost a day to install the game to the PS3. This is why I'm not going for a PS3. As for Capcom, that is a very dumb idea to require a nearly 5GB download in order to play the game.

5GB download LMFAO...I'll be gettin' it on 360 when it's under
$60 anyway so I'm not in a hurry...Takes me about 2 hours to download
5Gb's anyway on my DSL

personally i dont care cause i have 250 gigs in my PS3 mwuahahaha and besides the controls are better on the PS3 version IN MY OPINION. Other then that I could care less. Im sure it would run smoother with the install anyways

I'll agree with you on that NastyN8. I like the PS3 controller over the 360. I have a feeling this is more of an install then a download.

Huh? I don't see why it's an issue. The reason it requires an installation so that the loading times will be shorter and make the game perform better. Also, it's not an update or patch. It just stores data from the disk into your harddrive hence the word "install". You don't have to download anything at all.
