Animal rights activist group PETA named Fable 2 the most animal-friendly game in 2008...and it makes me wonder if anyone in this decision even played the game. Sure, in Fable 2 you could eat tofu and you had a doggie friend; but what about all the animal cruelty that was featured in the game, and players were awarded with achievements for performing these acts? Huh, PETA? No one told you about that...did they?

Read on for an piece of their press release and for more proof on where they went wrong:

PETA's press release:
Fable 2 is a vegetarian's dream come true. Why? In this virtual fight between good and evil, characters powered by tofu are just as powerful as their meat-eating counterparts - and are more fit and attractive to boot.

Featuring a strong pro-vegetarian theme, eating a plant-based diet helps you rack up "purity" points, whereas eating meat makes your character fat and evil. A fun and innovative game, it's also an effective tool that teaches gamers the real-life benefits of a vegetarian diet.

Seriously, I think some one just walked by and saw a glance of someone playing this in a store window and said, "Hey, they can eat tofu in this game! It's totally animal friendly!"

WRONG! Here are 5 solid facts on why Fable 2 should be named the game with the Most Animal-Cruelty of '08 instead of the Most Animal-Friendly game of '08.

1. The fact that the bad guys can attack your dog, making it cry out and whimper in pain while you are unable to help the poor mutt because you are busy protecting yourself.

2. The achievement "The Chicken Kicker" where the player is rewarded for seeing how far they can kick a chicken.

3. On that note, there is even a locked area you can not access until you kick several chickens into this big door's mouth.

4. There is a mission where you must enter the Temple of Shadows -- to gain entry you must eat 5 crunchy baby chicks. You can even hear their bones breaking in your mouth as you munch on them.

5. Another achievement called "The Hunter" where players are rewarded for shooting poor innocent, fluffy rabbits.

I don't know about you, but I think there is more animal cruelty in Fable 2 than in any other game released in 2008. Why didn't they pick Animal Crossing? Next year, some one needs to play or research the game before making such an announcement.

Hahaha, I'm not surprised at all. They never check their facts. I mean, good lord, I love animals to death, but Peta is a corrupt and disgusting organization.

Zumbikilla

No, but the act was frowned upon. You could do it, and get an achievenment, but you would become evil.

Stating that Lionhead believes the act is evil. Therefore if you're good, you'll take care of your dog, and not kick the chickens. If you're evil, you will.

Bottomline... they're right.

klasco

the thing is you have the option to be cruel but a option to be nice as well and being good makes you attractive according to fable anyway lolz

i find that being cruel to humans is alot easier than being cruel to animals(hyperthetically), i can't stand creatures in pain.
though a female crying is even worse than male in pain or any other thing including other creatures, that's probably back to males being psychologically programmed to respond more to females, though i don't know what females feel about males crying probs not so much.
anyway i drifted of the topic.
