Being hardcore and typing used to be farther from each other than a dwarf paladin to his WoW "girlfriend". Mavis Beacon and Typing tutor, the lackluster, mother-approved typing software of its time, was obviously beaten up and had its lunch money consantly stolen by Typing of the Dead, the coolest choice for lightning fast keyboard etiquette... And blowing zombies' heads off. With two new installments on the way, your horrible spelling and grammar are sure to come to an end (I've seen your comments. Most of you could do with some help.)

So as some of you may know, Typing of the Dead was originally a House of the Dead remake. It was available for Dreamcast, PC, and Playstation 2. There was even an arcade version, unlike any other arcade in the building. What better way to teach yourself to type more efficiently than killing zombies?? Clearly nothing.

The first installment on its way is Typing of the Dead 2. As far as it's recorded, it will only be for PC, but is sure to have updated graphics and a more broad vocabulary. It was released in Japan March 6th of this year. At the same time, if and when it will make to America is uncertain. There are two videos in the links that show gameplay.

The second installment is one some of you may find more appealing. Though, much information on this is unclear because there isn't even a release date for it in Japan! It'll take quite awhile to head our way. English of the Dead is a new game for you Nintendo DS fans, and as you can probably guess from the title, you type in English! However, these zombies are Japanese, so it's your job to translate their words into English and kill them off! Instead of the usual white lettering of the same word, you are given multiple letters of the word, and you are to write the missing letters in, as pictured below:

As far as my opinion on these go, even though I have to wait quite a long time, I'm thoroughly excited. I really love Typing of the Dead as it is, so it's something that caught my attention. A lot more people in the recent couple years have been more adamant about learning Japanese as well, so I'm sure the game will give some insight and help some as well. I think the zombie phenomenon going on is really wonderful. Ever since Dead Rising came out, zombie games have been extremely popular, and I'm loving every minute of it! Despite how old it is, I STILL play Typing of the Dead because of how fun it is. As an ending note, I thought a joke would be in order:

What did the zombie say to the prostitute when they were finished?

You can keep the tip.

Yup. All the cool weaponry in Dead Rising aside, I never knew you could survive a zombie attack by typing well haha. I outta try that next time I play Left 4 Dead. I also have to say that I've never heard that joke before Rini lol.

This is my kinda typing! Back in school when we had typing classes we learned to type in a game just like this one, but it was Mario instead.

I've wanted the Dreamcast version for years. i even bought a DC keyboard years ago with full intention of buying Typing of the Dead, but I've still yet to acquire it.

MrGregs

Note: i am a computer scientist and have to be able to type fast in order to not get fired for being too slow. It does not matter how good a typer you are typing of the dead is one of the best games you will ever play with its morbid humor and vast insanity you will love every minute. If you don't have a dreamcast GET ONE. Typing of the dead is on my top 10 games of all time list. It is significantly better than House of the Dead.

MrGregs, you just got like 50 brownie points =]
