Just when you thought you were playing the most innocent game in existence, chopping veggies up with your stylus and being rewarded with "Great! Even better than mama!" said so sweetly you'd think it would warm even the coldest of hearts, you are begged to think again. PETA is now taking a stab at Cooking Mama, LITERALLY, as they try to prove that Mama ain't as innocent as she appears. What could Mama possibly know about the suffering of all those virtual animals she uses regularly to cook her delicious dishes? Here is what PETA had to say on the matter:
She looks innocent enough a happy woman who has a twinkle in her eye and loves to cook but if you take just a minute to think about what happens to the animals who are killed for Mama's meals, a fun cooking game no longer seems quite so innocent.
Every year, billions of animals are raised and killed for food, but people often overlook the immense suffering that occurs before they make it to their dinner plates.
The idyllic barnyard scenes of years past, which are still portrayed in children's books and games, have been replaced by windowless metal sheds, wire cages, gestation crates, and other confinement systems. These operations are now known as factory farms.
Farmed animals have inadequate legal protection from the horrific abuses that they suffer, including neglect, mutilations, chronic pain, crippling, transport through all weather extremes, and inhumane slaughter all of which would be illegal if they were inflicted on companion dogs or cats.
If Mama knew what happened to animals on factory farms, she very well might want Majesco Entertainment to make a new Cooking Mama game that is much more animal-friendly. And while we're excited that Mama is going to be more vegetable-friendly in the upcoming Gardening Mama game, we'd love to see a more vegetarian-friendly Mama as well. Please give Mama a voice write to Majesco and politely ask that it create more vegetarian recipes for Mama or even a game with just vegetarian recipes!
PETA even went as far as to make their own Cooking Mama Game, titled "Mama Kills Animals" but you may want to shield your kids' eyes from this one. You can, of course, play the "Cooking Mama, Mama Kills Animals" flash game on the PETA website, just follow this link directly to it: http://www.peta.org/cooking-mama/index.asp?c=pcmgb08
But you know what? I'm going to step out on a limb here and defend Mama. She didn't want to cook, to be a Cooking Mama. She was dreaming big, but was shut down. See here:

Ahahahahahahaha ahahaha, BACK TO TEH KITCHENZ!
No seriously, what are your thoughts on PETA's latest shenanigans?
