Nintendo made a lot of announcements this week (For the Wii news check out Nikoles article) and have finally confirmed rumors about a new system, it has been called the DSi. This new system is set to release in Japan on November 1st. But lets get into the more technical stuff, what can this bad boy do that the NDS can't?

DSi and DS comparison
As you can tell by the specs they have updated the DSi with some pretty cool additions including two cameras, one is on the outside and one is conveniently tucked away right where the microphone is currently on the NDS. Nintendo also announced that they will be launching the "DSi Shop" so they can sell content directly over Wi-Fi with prices also connected to the Nintendo Points (Wii Points), so the prices range from 0 - 800 points. One of the cool things they have included with the system is that it will be bundled with a 1000 Nintendo point card until March of 2010. Only thing about this new system is that it will be getting rid of the GBA Slot entirely.
Nintendo has called the DSi a "third platform" so as to imply that it will not be competing directly with the NDS, how thats possible I don't know. The colors that it will launching with are Black and White and it will cost 189,000 (approx. US $178) and launches Nov 1st in Japan. There has been no release date set for it in the US or Europe yet.
There have also been a few new games announced for the DS/DSi including:
Wagamama Fashion Girls' Mode: Another Fashion Game..thanks Nintendo!
Aruite Wakaru Seikatsu Rhythm Game: the fitness game featuring a pedometer attachment.
Sekai no Gohan Shaberu! DS O-Ryouri Navi: sequel to Cooking Guide with recipes from around the world.
"Taboo: The Sith Sense 2k9": some kind of fortune telling game involving tarot and palm reading.
Tomodachi Collection: Game that lets you interact with Miis.
Made in Wario/Wario ware: Wario's name doesn't appear in the tenative title but it is clearly a sort of "Made in Series" featuring Wario.
3D Picross
Mario & Luigi RPG 3: nuff said.
So it seems that Nintendo kept all of its major news away from E3 and strictly for TGS. Nintendo you have redeemed yourself.
