The Crysis Warhead Rig

If you can get past the subtle barbs in the article title, I've got quite the find sure to blow your socks off: Crytek and Nvidia have joined forces to bring you, yes you, an affordable PC built around the idea of running Crysis on Highest settings at a solid 30 frames per second... just in time for the release of Crysis Warhead (which is rumored to have more optimization options for a wider range of PCs anyways). Yes, now you won't have to go to your nearest forum board to ask the question "can my PC run Crysis?" because, my friend, you will already know.

Without further ado, the specs:

  • Intel Core 2 Duo E7300 2.66 GHz 3M CPU
  • NVIDIA GeForce 9800GT 512MB GPU
  • G31 mATX Motherboard
  • 2 GB RAM
  • 250GB 7200RPM 3G SATAII Hard Drive
  • 16X DVD-ROM
  • Integrated 10/100/1000 Network Adapter
  • Integrated Realtek High-Def Audio
  • Keyboard & Mouse Included
  • Ultra X-Blaster ATX Mid-Tower Black Case
  • 1 Year Parts & Labor Warranty

Are you done drooling yet? Good, because you need to brace yourself for how insanely AFFORDABLE this machine is : $699!!!!!!!!! You can submit your email at Tiger Direct to be notified when this rig goes on sale.

Now, I have always been a huge advocate of building your own machine, saving yourself some money and getting the specs YOU need... however I think I'd make an exception in that mentality for this particular rig. While you should never miss out on the opportunity to educate yourself and learn how your machine works, for the price and specs you can't go wrong with this Crytek rig. The only problem I have with the PC is it has 2gigs of ram and not 4, but it would be easily upgradable and relatively cheap to do so as well.

For the price though, you can't go wrong.

$699? Not bad at all. But since I don't upgrade my computer, I probably still won't be able to play Crysis until I get a new one :(

klasco

yeah Crysis team made a custom price for under $700 and try to make their game run on that while still being able to run on Ultimate computers like the Nuclear Winter Intel Edit SLI Gaming Computer.

Didn't Crysis actually make the PC to be sold as well by a company?.

@klasco I think (and im not sure, but from what I understand) The PC is thought up by Crytek and Nvidia, and it's under the brand of Ultra Optimized? I could be wrong on that though.

@Navie

Actually your right, i re-watched the interview again with crytek

thats cool..........BUT ill settle for Killzone 2. what i can get for 750+$ (this rig and Crysis), i can get for 60$ (a really fn pretty FPS w/ 32 players.) W/ an extensive multiplayer setup to boot. this prolly couldav came in handy errr last year when i went to get my pc (well laptop in my case). i save my laptop 4 360 games tho and starcraft 2 so yea...

I just finished building my new pc yesterday for $1200. I have a wayyyy better computer than that. I ran crysis at max settings on everything at 1400x900(i think close to that anway). I have a wolfdale 3.33ghz 4gig of ram, radeon 4870 and 500gb sata 32meg cache hardrive and a really loaded motherboard.
