****SPOILER ALERT****
As all of our loyal readers know each of your Game Girls have a specialty area of coverage or our favorites eventually become known through our articles. Now and again, you will find we have some things in common or our favorites cross paths and you will get a special treat. Such is true this week! As the movie fanatic I feverishly head out to the movies weekly (sometimes more) to catch the latest releases and this week was The Incredible Hulk. As we all know, our resident Marvel Guru, Femme Fatale was also anxiously awaiting the arrival of this latest Marvel Studios creation. So here are out thoughts on this week's summer blockbuster release.
NuyoRiquena:
So where do I start with this week's adrenaline pumping, action-packed, smorgasbord of special effects? How about we talk about the complete contrast that this installment of the Hulk was in comparison to the last one by Ang Lee. Ang Lee's version was about exciting as watching mold grow. And why didn't we get to see the Hulk fight any of his real enemies? I mean gamma irradiated dogs? Booooo! In this version, not only did we get to see the Hulk fight some of his primary arch-nemeses in General Ross and The Abomination, but for those of us that are longtime fans of the Hulk comic book, you get to see a glimpse of the making of another of the Hulks enemies: The Leader. It's not stated but those who know, know.
There were a lot of cool Easter eggs in the movie for longtime hulk fans as well. There was a scene where we got to see the old purple pants, another scene where we heard the closing theme to the original TV series, we saw a scene where the original Hulk; Lou Ferrigno, had a pretty touching moment with Bruce Banner, at the beginning of the movie we even see a cameo of the original Bruce, Bill Bixby.
Leader (comic)
Femme Fatale:
You know how they say "Third time's a charm?" ... Apply that to The Incredible Hulk 2008.
It left me very, very satisfied. A Stan Lee, & Tony Stark (Robert Downey, Jr.) appearance, S.H.I.E.L.D information, and an Avengers hint at the end of the movie, fed my nerd hunger with a silver spoon. There was a good amount of action, but just as much of that romantic junk that the girl you practically dragged to the theatre to watch it with, could enjoy it almost as much as the comic book enthusiast.
Abomination (comic)
There were many more cool moments in this move for both old fans and newcomers but I dont want to spoil it all for you. Go See It!
This one gets an A!
