It has just come to my attention that according to Florida judge, the Hon. Dava Tunis, Jack Thompson, arch nemesis to gamers everywhere, should be found G - U - I - L - T - Y! It was a recommendation many gamers have been waiting to hear for quite some time, not mention companies like Rockstar, a target of many of JT's ranting.

Judge Tunis has found it sufficient that Mr. Thomspon be found guilty on 27 counts of misconduct, according to Game Politics (dot) com, including the following:

  • " Knowingly making a false statement of material fact or law to a tribunal
  • " Knowingly disobeying an obligation under the rules of a tribunal
  • " Communicating the merits of the case with a judge before whom the proceeding is pending
  • " Using means that have no purpose other than to embarrass, delay or burden a third person
  • " Engaging in conduct involving dishonesty, fraud, deceit or misrepresentation
  • " Engaging in conduct in connection with the practice of law that is prejudicial to the administration of justice, including to knowingly or through callous indifference disparage or humiliate litigants or other lawyers
  • " Making statements that the lawyer knows to be false or with reckless disregard as to the truth or falsity concerning the qualifications or integrity of a judge

    • The fight is obviously not over. This is a small victory for gamers. There is still disciplinary hearing scheduled for June 2 but Judge Tunis is the presiding judge again. The next step is for these findings to be sent to the Florida Supreme Court where they will view the ruling of Judge Tunis and render their opinions and possible sanctions.

    Thanks Raychul!! That's sweet. And I agree. We are lucky that this same judge is also handling his disciplinary hearing. With any luck he will be disbarred.

    If I remember correctly, I believe this is a disciplinary proceeding regarding his law license. Thus, I think the worst that the court could do was revoke his law license and thus, cannot practice law anymore. No jail time involved with that.
    I don't think that gets rid of him from stating his opinion (as wrong as it may be), but it will stop the lawsuits that he has been filing against gaming companies.
    Justice has prevailed!
