A while back I posted a blog about my dream of a Pokemon MMO. With the launch of WiiWare I have been hoping a developer would come along and get Nintendo to help make this dream a reality. Well apparently I wasn't the only PokeTrainer out there who felt this way. According to cubed3.com a Pokemon MMO is being pitched to Nintendo.

The developers who brought you the Wiiware title, Pop, may be the company to get it done. Their licensing page is sparking rumors of a possible MMO in the not so distant future. Also on their licensing page are ideas for a James Bond game as well as an X-men game. I hope we can expect some great things from the people Nnooo Games.

If its a wii ware title, im wondering how many pokemon they would let you choose from. I can't see an option of 493 pokemon, unless they do updates that is.

It'll never happen. There's no way you could make an MMO with friend codes and no way of communicating with strangers. And Nintendo isn't going to allow anything else.

It would be nice though. They could make it so that you choose which region you start on, and that determines which starting Pokemon you can choose from. Too bad it'll never happen.

As a traditional, full fledged MMO, I'd have to agree. Nintendo is a little too reluctant to "open the flood gates" to open communication between strangers; with a game popular amongst a younger crowd, it'd be especially dangerous.

That said, there may be a way to have some limited, but satisfying, interaction.
